A Decision Theoretic Analysis of Career Preferences,

Abstract

The purpose of the investigation was to demonstrate that behavioral decision theory can account for human decision behavior when the decision is important to the individual and when there is uncertainty about the expected outcome of the alternative acts among which he may choose. The decision of interest was relative preference ratings among occupations within the field of psychology by 30 seniors at the University of Washington who were planning to pursue careers in psychology.
