A Study of Mass Population Displacement in the Republic of Viet-Nam. Part 1. Analysis of the Forced Relocation Process

Abstract

The report is a study of the forced relocation of civilians in Viet- Nam. It is based upon information collected in 498 interviews with evacuee heads-of-household and draws comparative data from 593 interviews with voluntary refugees. The report consists of five chapters dealing with the characteristics of movement, the resettlement experience, comparative demography, attitudes, and the implications of forced relocation for the pactification effort, and eight case studies of evacuee and refugee settlements.
