Thermionic Emission from Oxide-Coated Cathodes at Low Temperatures.

Abstract

The preparation and emission analysis of a cathode coating which uses Kodak Thin-Film Resist (KTFR) as the suspension rather than the commonly used amyl acetate is discussed. This suspension is being investigated to determine its potential as a low-temperature thermionic cathode and its merits for use in an internal program titled 'Coplanar Thermionic Devices.' The development of the necessary photoetch techniques using this mix so that well defined cathode patterns could be delineated is also outlined. (Author)
