Approximate Solution of the Three-Dimensional Problem of a Gas-Dynamic Bearing,

Abstract

It is noted that numerical integration by a computer should be conducted in combination with variational calculation methods permitting a considerable simplification of the program and a shortening of the period of the machine's operation. One such method is reported which can be particularly effective in solving the differential equation of a three-dimensional flow of the gas lubricant of a bearing with various boundary conditions on the ends or in the clearance which is variable longitudinally.
