Study of Electrical Resistance of Lubricating Film in the Friction of Various Metals,
Abstract
It has been established that measurement of the electrical resistance of the lubricating film between metals can be used to estimate its thickness, wear resistance and temperature of desorption of polar surfactant molecules. The author used this method to estimate the lubricating properties of lubricating and cooling fluids used in metal cutting tools. The method of measurement of the electrical resistance of the contact zone during friction allows the wear durability of lubricating films to be studied as a function of the specific contact conditions of friction couples. The experiments conducted on thread cutters confirm the expediency of preliminary study of the lubricating properties of films by measurement of electrical resistance. (Author)
