Evaluation of Polyurethane Shroud Designed to Prevent TACAN Weather Outages.

Abstract

The report covers field evaluation at the Fairfield, Utah Vortac of a polyurethane shroud installed over the TACAN antenna. The evaluation determined the effectiveness of the shroud in preventing and removing snow and ice accumulations from the TACAN antenna. The data indicated that although the shroud did not completely eliminate weather outages, it was successful in preventing and removing snow and ice accumulations. (Author)
