The Collisional De-Excitation of Neon at Various Pressures.

Abstract

It was proposed to observe the spectral intensities of the 5852.5A line in Neon I, and 3664.1A line in Neon II to obtain collisional de-excitation cross sections, and de-excitation reaction rates. However, due to a series of problems with the Van De Graaff accelerator in the proton configuration no reproducible data was obtained. Trial runs were made on the 3371.3A spectral line of nitrogen using electrons as the excitation source.
