Device for Measuring Friction Force during the Plastic Deformation of a Material (Frictional Force Meter),

Abstract

The instrument is used to measure the frictional force generated during plastic deformation, and permits the direct measurement of the coefficient of friction. The meter consists of a base on which the tested material is placed a block through which the load is transferred to the material, consisting of two sliding plates and a recording instrument, measuring the displacement of the plates. It incorporates also a further plate, mounted above the block, and a set of rollers. The rollers fit loosely into grooves in each of the plates. (Author)
