Factors Initiating Vacuum Breakdown,

Abstract

Field emission initiated high vacuum breakdown between technically pure electrodes was studied theoretically and experimentally. Expressions describing temperature distribution within the plate anode during pulsed of steady bombardment by a homogeneous electron beam are presented. Measurements were carried out with W, Mo, Cu and Al electrodes. (Author)
