Physical Properties of Solid Solutions of Alkali-Halide Compounds and Molecular Concentration,

Abstract

The relationship between the properties of alkali-halide solid solutions of NaCl-NaBr, KCl-KBr, NaBr-KBr, KCl-NaCl, KBr-KJ, and KCl-RbCl with molecular concentration alpha is shown. Depending on the composition of these solutions, alpha changes according to curves describing a negative nonadditivity. Hardness, by mutual grinding and drilling and electrical strength are measured from curves with a minimum in the medium concentration range; the heat of formation, the coefficient of linear expansion, and the dielectrical losses at the high frequency-from curves with a maximum in the range of the same concentration.
