Experimental Study of Heat Transfer in a Gas Flow behind a Shock Wave,

Abstract

The article describes the measurement of thermal fluxes behind a shock wave with the aid of platimum resistance thermometers in a flow of air, nitrogen, or carbon dioxide past a wedge at mach numbers from 3.5 to 9. Thermal fluxes vs shock wave speed are determined in unsteady flows past wedges of various geometries. The effect of the occurrence of a double mach configuration on the thermal flux and velocity distributions on the surface of a wedge is discussed. (Author)
