Gray Scale Capability and Sensor Effectiveness.
Abstract
The report presents a method for evaluating optical/visual sensors with respect to their gray scale reproduction capability. The method is a systems analysis tool developed as part of a broader effort concerned with characterizing reconnaissance systems as to the quantity and quality of the data they supply. The measure of effectiveness in the developed method is the probability that a resolvable detail which is part of a representative scene will be detectable in the sensor output. (Author)
