Process for Producing Compound Castings of Two or More Metals,

Abstract

In a process for making compound castings from 2 or more metals, preferably ferrous metals, by diffusion of the materials to be bonded, the article which is to be coated by casting is placed in a permanent or sand mold. Into the void space molten metal is introduced and removed. The amount of introduced metal per time unit is always greater than the amount of removed metals, the introduction and removal of molten metal being continued until the contact surface of the article and the molten metal has attained a temperature sufficient to effect diffusion of the material to be joined together.
