The Ablation of Graphite in the Turbulent Flow of a Reacting Gas,

Abstract

In the report, the authors investigate the ablation of graphite on a device in which plates of graphite are heated in turbulent flow of air or carbon dioxide gas. They develop a method for calculating the ablation rate with consideration of the kinetics of the chemical reactions, making it possible to distinguish the boundary of the diffusion region. (Author)
