Soviet Perception of the Sino-Soviet Conflict and the Emerging Multipolar World.

Abstract

The report examines the nature and content of the dispute in relations between the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China, as it has evolved since the late 1950s. It explores possible ways of future development in a period of increasing international multipolarity, particularly as affected by the power relationship between the two nations and the United States. In doing so, it focuses special attention upon the political aspects of the dispute, approaching it through an extensive treatment of the Soviet ideological position. (Author)
