The Study of a Totally Self-Checking Adder.

Abstract

The high speed digital computers of today are already very complex, and there is no doubt that the computers of future generations will be even more sophisticated. Tens of thousands of electronic components are involved. The possible failure of these components makes the reliability of such a large digital computer system a major concern. The following topics are discussed: design of two-rail adder; investigation of totally self-checking property; and, selection of checkers.
