A Study of Fault-Tolerant Computing

Abstract

The report describes technical progress in the first half year of a study of fault-tolerant computing. Steps toward the development of economical fault tolerance and high availability are discussed. Appendices contain a survey of various existing systems and system designs, as well as a paper on a hierarchical framework for fault-tolerant computing systems.
