Porous Structure of a Sintered Nickel Oxide Electrode,

Abstract

The changes in pore volume, pore diameter, and surface area of Ni electrode substrates due to changes in the manufacturing process were studied. Three types of substrates were examined: 2 pasted structures (powered Ni plus urea plus binder with cellulose or with rubber cement, and sintered Ni powder. The factors affecting the Ni(OH)2 formation on the Ni substrate had a greater effect on the electrochemical output of the battery electrode than factors affecting the substrate formation.
