Proton-Activated Recession Sensor (PARS). Volume III.

Abstract

The technical effort of the program has proven the feasibility of a refractory-metal-infiltrated, proton-activated recession sensor system for measurement of graphite nosetip recession due to ablation. Refractory metals have been found that satisfy all of the stringent requirements of high-temperature environments and, based on limited tests, do not appear to affect the baseline material properties of the graphite.
