Study on Bremsstrahlung Radiation and Its Ionizing Effect in the Lower Ionosphere,

Abstract

The attenuation of precipitating electrons of energy 1<E<100 keV in the lower ionosphere has been studied. The profile of energy and flux attenuation in the ionosphere has been calculated. The theory of binary collisions between electron and neutral particle; electron and ion have been used to study the generation of bremsstrahlung photon flux in the lower ionosphere. With the help of computed bremsstrahlung photon flux, the photoionization and the impact ionization of the ionospheric constituents in the lower ionosphere were studied. The effect of energy spectra of precipitating electrons on the electron-ion pair production rate has been also considered. (Author)
