Abstract

Part Three of the three-part gastroenterology symposium on the small bowel consists of 9 articles on clinical aspects of the region. The topics include the role of surgery in the treatment of regional enteritis followed by a discussion of the pathophysiology of ileal loss and ileostomy dysfunction and intestinal adaptation to small bowel disease. Other articles provide the reader with present concepts of the hematologic aspects of small bowel disease, tuberculosis of the small intestine, food-induced allergic gastreoenteropathy, mesenteric vascular diseases and parasites and the small intestine. The article on angiography is followed by an illustrated supplement. (Author)
