Partial Pivoting Strategies for Symmetric Matrices.

Abstract

Partial pivoting strategies for the decomposition of symmetric matrices are discussed for solving symmetric (indefinite) systems of linear equations and for calculating the signature of symmetric matrices, in both the full and the sparse band cases. (Author)
