Simulation of the Planetary Boundary Layer in a Multiple-Jet Wind Tunnel,

Abstract

In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in the effect of flows in the atmospheric, or planetary, boundary layer on various structures and flow processes in it. Because of the extreme complexity of the flows in the planetary layer, analytical approaches are extremely difficult. The present investigation is concerned with determining the suitability of an ejector-driven wind tunnel for producing turbulent shear flows with arbitrary desired characteristics, and in particular for the simulation of the flows in the planetary boundary layer.
