Combustible Gases and Their Properties

Abstract

The report examines the following: the basic types of gas fuel and methods of obtaining it; physical and chemical properties both of fuel gases and of the products of their combustion, along with the basic questions connected with the combustion process, such as the mechanism of the interaction of the fuel gas with air, ignition of the gas/air mixture, and carburation in laminar and turbulent flames during combustion of both pure gas and a gas/air mixture. Attention is also given to questions of the movement of gas over pipes and other channels with determination of the pressure losses which occur.
