Generalized Conjugate Functions for Mixed Finite Element Approximations of Boundary-Value Problems,

Abstract

The theory of conjugate approximations is extended to include mixed formulation of boundary-value problems. A relationship between conjugate projections, complementary variational principles, and the hypercircle method is established. Certain preliminary questions of convergence and error estimates for primal, dual and mixed finite-element models are discussed. (Author)
