A Biaxial Testing Device for Examining Plastic Flow Properties of High Strength Materials,

Abstract

The biaxial testing device described herein is capable of obtaining yield points in any quadrant of the two-dimensional stress space. Several yield theoreis are compared with experimental results in the compression quadrnat for HY-80 steel. A deformation-type flow theory is used in conjunction with this apparatus to compare theoretical and experimental post-yielding stresses. Very good agreement was obtained between measured and calculated values. (Author)
