Intrinsic Fluctuations in a Superconducting 'Flux Detector' Ring Closed by a Josephson Junction: Theory and Experiment.

Abstract

The authors calculate the effect of thermal fluctuations on the distribution of values of external flux at which a small superconducting ring closed with a josephson junction undergoes transitions between fluxoid quantum states. This configuration provides the basis for the superconducting quantum flux detector (SQUID).
