The Great Graphics Program - PDQ 3 (Partial Differential Equation Solution Graphics Version 3).

Abstract

PDQ 3 is the latest interactive graphics solution to an important class of second order linear partial differential equations (Laplace and Poisson). These equations appear in almost every branch of applied mathematics; governing the solutions to design problems in heat transfer, elasticity, and potential (electric, magnetic, electrostatic, gravitation, velocity in irrotation flow, etc). Finite difference approximations are made of the derivatives, in either cartesian or cylindrical coordinates, employing a generalized irregular star for the 'computation stencil'. (Author)
