Activated Gas Plasma Surface Treatment of Polymers for Adhesive Bonding. Part IV. Treatment of the Data.

Abstract

The objective of this report is to demonstrate similarities in the adhesive bond strength of different polymers after plasma exposure and to present a relation that correlates the data reasonably well. A STATISTICAL TREATMENT IS GIVEN OF ADHESIVE BOND STRENGTH AS A FUNCTION OF TIME OF PLASMA TREATMENT OF POLYMER FILMS. For a number of polymers, a reasonably good correlation was obtained. Data for PVF, Teflon, Nylon, polyvinylidene fluoride, acetal, polystyrene, polyester, and Celcon are presented. (P.S.-PL)
