An Experimental Study of Certain Aerodynamic Effects on Erosion,

Abstract

A preliminary set of data was obtained from a unique erosion tester, designed such that the aerodynamics over the specimen are an integral part of the test parameters. The data obtained from this test system supports a hypothesis that a pitching moment on the longer sand particles could rotate them in a manner that could influence the erosion rate. It was concluded that more work is necessary in order to substantiate the above hypothesis. (Author)
