Laboratory Evaluation of an Electrogasdynamic Fog Dispersal Concept.

Abstract

An electrogasdynamic concept proposed by Gourdine Systems, Inc. for modifying warm fog was evaluated on a laboratory scale by the Atmospheric Sciences Research Center. Seventeen tests were run in the ASRC fog chamber under a variety of fog conditions and for several spray-gun (charged drop) configurations. Mixed results were obtained, with the system producing no measurable effect in certain fog cases and significant visibility improvement in other cases. An evaluation of the experiments and of the spray system operation is presented. (Author)
