On the Possibilities of Using Gas Turbine Installations and Magnetohydrodynamic Generators at Atomic Power Stations with High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactors (O Vozmozhnostyakh Ispolzovaniya Gazoturbinnykh Ustanovok i MGD-Generatorov na AES s Vysokotemperaturnymi Gazookhlazhdaemymi Reaktorami),

Abstract

In the years following 1980 the use of gas cooled nuclear reactors for electrical power can be expected to grow. The most efficient ways of using this power are gas turbine and magnetohydrodynamic installations. Gas turbine installations are somewhat simpler and will probably be constructed first. Magnetohydrodynamic installations will require the development of more advanced technology, but will eventually prove competitive with or superior to the gas turbine. (Author)
