Experimental MHD Generator of the Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Power Engineering of the Ukrainian SSR,
Abstract
Scientifical and engineering background is given of the experimental MHD generator, built on the basis of an operating power station. The generator is run on the combustion products of natural gas with consumption of 3-10 kg/sec; it includes a rearend steam turbine cycle and is designed mainly for researches of the MHD power generating unit behavior under various working conditions. The technological, electrical and measuring facilities of the installation are described. During the physical runup research was made of the gas dynamics both in the MHD duct and along the whole flow path, as well as of the fluctuations of thermodynamical and electrical parameters of the generator working body.
