Role of Water in the Production of Lithium Greases,

Abstract

A mandatory component of soap greases is water, which comprises the basic volume of alkali solutions; it is formed in the process of soap preparation and can be introduced additionally to improve saponification of the fatty products during the manufacture of greases. The insignificant quantity of water which remains in a soap/oil system has an essential influence on the structure and property of greases. In the report, the authors studied the influence of water in a water-soap-oil dispersion on the properties of lithium greases obtained on a continuous installation. (Author)
