Planetary Rolling Parameters for the Case of Simultaneous Contact of More Than One Pair of Rolls with the Billet,

Abstract

A theoretical study was made of the geometric kinematic and force characteristics of a planetary rolling mill with allowance for the reciprocal effect of planetary rolls simultaneously present in the reduction zone. A calculation procedure is presented for a case involving the simultaneous contact of more than one pair of rolls with the metal being rolled. The load on each work roll is considerably increased from the moment of entry of each subsequent roll into the deformation area. (Author)
