Investigation of the Emittance of Carbon Materials,

Abstract

Emittance of natural graphite, pyrographite, polycrystalline, graphite, and nongraphitizing carcon materials was determined at 1300-2300K by measuring the diffusion coefficient of reflection of the investigated materials. Emittance values of both graphitizing and nongraphitizing materials were very high and differences were found only in temperature and wavelength dependency. An experimental arrangement for studying emittance in the visible and IR regions, using photographic and photoelectric methods of recording, is described.
