Broadband Combinable Power Amplification 1350 to 1850 MHz.

Abstract

The objective is to develop a microwave power transistor to provide 20 watts of power across the band 1350 to 1850 MHz, and to incorporate this device into a 30 watt and 60 watt power module to cover this same instantaneous band. A computer study was made to determine the optimum device design, and wafers processed and evaluated to this design. One half of the 20 watt unit satisfies the 10 watt driver requirements across the band, the full unit satisfies the 20 watt requirement. Broadband quadrature hybrid power combiners were designed, fabricated and evaluated over the band of interest with satisfactory results. The 10 watt driver stage was fabricated and evaluated, producing 10 watts of power across the 1350 to 1850 MHz band. (Author)
