Gas Lasers.

Abstract

The study of discharges through vapors of HgBr2 and HgCl2 has shown the existence of optical gain in the emission from the HgX* species. On the contrary, no gain was detected on the copper atomic transitions resulting from discharge decomposition of copper halides. In the area of organic luminophors, efforts were made to obtain a clear indication of single-pass super-radiance on pumping several scintillator compounds in the vapor phase with a mode-locked frequency-doubled ruby laser.
