Colloid Advanced Development Program.

Abstract

The report is a technical summary of the last 6 months of the 24-month Phase 1 effort conducted under the Colloid Advanced Development Program. The program objective is to flight-qualify and radiation-harden a colloid thruster system that will deliver one millipound of thrust at a specific impulse of 1500 seconds. The system must have a total impulse capability of approximately 37,500 lb-sec with a total weight of less than 45 pounds and an input power of less than 70 watts. The goal of the program during the reporting period was to develop the components considered critical to system operation and to test them as an integrated system. The critical components include the thruster, the propellant supply system, the neutralizer, and the power conditioning and control system. (Author)
