Development of Film Techniques for Runway Lighting Outage Studies.

Abstract

The report describes the following two tasks: Development of the filming technique that shows a realistic pilot's view of the cockpit and external scene during the final phases of a landing approach including touchdown and rollout; and, using the above technique to provide the necessary scenes of random outages in the approach and runway lighting systems so that one may conduct an evaluation of lighting system redundancy requirements. The filming technique produces a 35 mm colored motion picture film which has been reduced to 16 mm for convenience. (Author)
