Design of a Hardware Fast Fourier Transform Processor,

Abstract

The report describes the design and construction of a Digital Fast Fourier Transform Processor (DIFFTRAP) with several features useful in signal processing applications. These features include overlapping computation with I/O, optional scaling of data, shifting of time origin, inverse transform, unscrambling of bit-reversed output data, and simultaneous transform of two real functions. A thorough development of processor algorithms and computations sequences is presented, as well as a detailed description of the hardware used to implement them. A description is also given of the hardware used to interface this processor to the DISAC general purpose digital computer in a larger signal processing system. (Author)
