F. Engels and the Socio-Biological Problem,

Abstract

The scientific understanding of correlation between social and biological element has a great methodological significance for the entire complex of sciences of man. The biological element is represented in man by laws of metabolism and the exchange of energies. These laws are conditioned by the morphophysiological characteristics of the organism. They operate in accordance with the specific 'genetic programme' of the organism and ensure its existence in socio-ecological environment. The biological element is closely linked with the social one. In its broad sense, the social element is understood as the totality of laws, properties and specific features organically inherent in different stable social associations. In relation to the individual, the social element is understood as his social existence as distinct from organic, physical being. (Author)
