Four-Level Method for Predicting Geopotential in the Troposphere and Lower Stratosphere Taking Radiation and Turbulent Heat Transfer into Consideration,

Abstract

A four-level model of a baroclinic atmosphere is used to predict geopotential at isobaric surfaces at the 50, 150, 250, and 950 millibar levels for the Northern Hemisphere. An outline for use in making the calculations is presented, and examples of predictions for periods up to 3 days are included. (Author)
