Theory of a Pulsed Plasmoid Accelerator,

Abstract

The basic relationships involved in plasma acceleration are considered in addition to the main parameters of accelerators and their characteristics. A number of conclusions are drawn, the most important being that approximate formulae for the velocity, electode length and emf of the store give results close to those obtained by numerical solution of the accelerator equations. Formulae and graphs are obtained which simplify the problem of selecting the optimum combination of parameters for a given accelerator. (Author)
