On the Optimality Criterion in Compound Decision Problems.

Abstract

The paper discusses the philosophy underlying the optimality criterion for compound decision problems and shows that the classical criterion is the best possible under a very broad range of circumstances. In particular, this implies that it is not necessary to resort to controversial Bayes arguments to justify existing compound decision procedures. (Author)
