Calculating the Strength of Road Structures under Permafrost Conditions in the First Road-Climatic Zone (Raschet Prochnosti Dorozhnykh Konstruktsii v Usloviyakh Merzloty v Pervoi Dorozhno-Klimaticheskoi Zone),

Abstract

The authors recommend that the calculation of the strength of a road structure functioning under permafrost conditions be performed in the following sequence: Determine the thickness of the thawing soil with preliminary designation of a specific depth of covering; Establish the required strength of the structure, proceeding from the tolerable overall (SAURSRI method) or the elastic (MAHI method) deformation and load; and, Refine by calculation the depth of covering assuring the strength needed.
