Advanced Development Model (Feasibility Type) Tactical Page Reader.

Abstract

AD-740 879.(*READING MACHINES, DESIGN), CHARACTER RECOGNITION, OPTICAL SCANNING, OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, PRINTED CIRCUITS, FEASIBILITY STUDIES, PHOTODIODES*OPTICAL CHARACTER RECOGNITION DEVICEThe report describes work done and progress made during the second six months of the design and fabrication of the advanced model (feasibility type) Tactical Page Reader. The logic of the reader down to gate details and integrated circuit types is virtually complete. Additional tests and measurements were made on 256 bit self-scanning photodiode arrays. Eleven different types of printed circuit boards were designed. All special circuits for the machine were designed. These include amplifier and quantizing circuits for the scanning arrays, lamp servo amplifier for illumination control, as well as others. A new scanning array and lens mount assembly was designed. The layout for the keyboard and control panel of the reader is complete.
