Some Non-Linear Aspects of Striation Growth in Barium Clouds.

Abstract

The dynamics of barium clouds, as formulated by Longmire, is analysed for stability. Equations are derived for the behavior of perturbations both in the linear and non-linear regimes. The main result for the linear regime is that for the fastest growing unstable mode, k bisects the angle between the density gradient and the neutral wind. The main results of the non-linear analysis are discussed.
