Studies of Rain Cycles of Warm Cumuli,

Abstract

28-70-C-0228AF-7605760504AFCRL72-0350(*cumulus clouds, *artificial precipitation), rainfall, curve fitting, graphics, numerical analysis, florida*cloud seedingDuring September 1971, a field experiment was held near Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, to study the life cycles of natural and hygroscopically seeded warm tropical cumuli. Measurements of rain at the cloud base with the recalibrated RR40 raindrop spectrometer have shown the following characteristics. Seeding-affected rain appears to be initially visible from seven to ten minutes after seeding. The seeding effects take the form of an increase in the concentration of large drops and an apparent increase in the duration of the seeded showers. (Author)
