Ducted-Fan Turbojet Engines (Review of Development Based on Foreign Publications),

Abstract

The author analyzes operating principles and the thermodynamic cycle of turbofan rocket engines. Given is a brief analysis of the present state of turbofan rocket engines abroad, an analysis of design characteristics of a series of power plants, and basic diagrams of engines, their merits and shortcomings. Indicated are also the advantages of turbofan rocket engines at high supersonic-flight M numbers in comparison with other types of engines, as well as the possible field of application of turbofan rocket engines.
